Where will my session take place?

Sessions take place in and around your home and within your neighborhood. We will shoot both inside and out. If we’ve learned anything in the last year, it’s that home is everything. Not only does shooting in your space bring an extra layer of ease and comfort to the process, but the photos naturally become part of your history, with every detail adding to your story.

For repeat clients, I am happy to tag along on a family adventure outside of the neighborhood- Hikes, ice cream shops, parks- you name it.

Mini Sessions take place twice a year at a location of my choosing.

but my space is too dark /small / disorganized!?

Don’t worry! I have shot in an array of spaces from high rise condos, studios, basement apartments, to sprawling estates. All have their bonuses and challenges.

Feel free to pick up, but there is no need to deep clean or go wild trying to organize. If you like my work, then please try to trust the process. All of the photos on my site were achieved this way and I love the feel of a lived in space.

What can I expect when you arrive?

I like to start by asking the kids to give me a tour of your space. This is usually when they warm up to me, and when I get some of the best shots of the day. Every session is child led, so you can squash any worries you have about your kids “cooperating.”

I sometimes offer some direction/prompts (“Everyone pile on the couch!”), but the majority of the time, I’ll ask you to engage in a loved activity (baking, painting, dance parties, riding bikes, etc.) I always prefer to end our time together outdoors, rain or shine.

Most importantly, it’s my priority that everyone involved feel free and comfortable throughout. However, whoever, whatever you are- You Are Welcome. You Are Worthy.

Do you use props for newborns?

I want to capture true, smooshy, newborn perfection and I personally feel like props distract from that. I am always happy to incorporate any heirlooms, like a special quilt, or stuffed animal, and I love a good swaddle or simple accessory. Other than that, newborn shoots run similarly to the typical family session, only I allot more time to give Baby (and tired new parents) lots of flexibility.

What should we wear?

Embrace:

An outfit that makes you feel awesome - Plan what you’re going to wear in advance so you don’t have to worry about it the day of. If it’s something new, move around in it and make sure you’re comfortable.
A coordinated color story- Styling your family in colors that compliment each other (not matching!) can add a cohesive look to your images. Once you’re booked with me, I’ll send you a link with examples.
Bare feet (especially indoors)

Avoid:

Large brand labels or graphics, wording, characters
Matching outfits
Fussy clothes that will need readjusting
Socked feet indoors - There’s nothing that sticks out more than bright white socks.

When will I see my photos?

You will receive a link to your collection within 2-3 weeks, depending on the season. Your favorite images will be available for immediate download at that time. You will be given access to ‘Modern Artifacts,’ our online shop, where you can purchase high quality, custom heirloom pieces.
